Airbus Launches ACJ350 XWB with Easyfit Outfitting

By: Staff / Published: May 23, 2016

Airbus is launching a new corporate-jet version of its A350 XWB widebody airliner, with ‘Easyfit’ provisions for cabin-outfitting, The new long-range member of the Airbus Corporate Jetliners (ACJ) will be able to fly 25 passengers up to 10,800 nm (20,000 km.)

Called the ACJ350 XWB, it features 2,910 ft2 (270 m2) of cabin space in the -900 version. Airbus is introducing a new ‘Easyfit’ process for outfitting the cabin interior in a more straightforward way, involving the use of attachment points along the cabin walls.

Widebodies such as the ACJ350 offer the equivalent of several houses of floorspace, so creating cabins that meet demanding certification rules can be challenging, a task that is eased with ‘Easyfit’ as it includes hundreds of attachment points alongside the fuselage, thus simplifying the work of cabin-outfitters when installing customized bulkheads, cabinets and fixtures.

“One of Airbus’s greatest strengths is to offer customers the world’s most modern and efficient aircraft family, and the ACJ350 with Easyfit expands its corporate jet offering, giving customers a new way to take their business to the world,” says Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers John Leahy.

The ACJ350 XWB also offers new features such as an onboard airport navigation system (OANS), which presents pilots with an overview map display of the airport apron and taxiways, coupled to a new interactive input device to indicate the aircraft’s location on that map, besides a runway overrun protection system (ROPS), an alerting system which reduces exposure to runway overrun risk, and if necessary, provides active protection.

To date, over 180 Airbus Corporate Jets are in service, and although the ACJ350 XWB has only a single order from an undisclosed customer, its passenger variant has around 800 orders from more than 40 customers, and over 20 aircraft in service since its entry into service in December 2014.
