These stunning photos capture Boston as you've never seen it before

When you think about Boston's aesthetic, what comes to mind? The red-brick row-homes and narrow cobblestone streets of Beacon Hill? The historic building- and Italian bakery-laden North End? Or maybe it's the impressive skyline visible from the waterfront, those skyscrapers downtown. Long story short, it's a multi-faceted city, and whatever image of Boston you harbor, chances are it's not all-encompassing.

Mashable tasked photographer (and New England native) Jesse Burke to explore the city of Boston through new eyes, rather, his lens. His approach? "We rarely look up and stop to watch what is happening north of our eyeline. I took that and brought it to a city I spend a lot of time in. When possible I tried to look down as well," Burke says. "It was amazing to see the city I know so well in a new and interesting way." Read more...
