Concorde fan club wants to put the plane back in the skies by 2019

The Concorde's final flight took place on October 23rd, 2003 — nearly 12 years ago. In another four years, however, it could once again be approved for lift off for charter flights.

The U.K.-based Club Concorde International, comprised of former Concorde pilots and charterers, and current enthusiasts, has raised roughly $186 million to put a Concorde back into commission.

Before 2019, though, it wants to put one on the River Thames.

The two-part plan begins with purchasing a Concorde currently stationed at Orly Airport in France — paid for by an initial $62 million investment. The Concorde would be restored and placed on a specially designed platform near the London Eye over the River Thames as a tourist attraction. Read more...
