Chris Harris drives the Drayson B12/62EV

"*%$# me, that's fast." That's pretty much the synopsis given by Chris Harris, one of the hosts of the web series Drive, as he piloted the Drayson B12/69EV Le Mans prototype. Yes, that's the same car that last month set the high-speed record for electric vehicles under 999 kilograms (2,202 pounds). Harris, in a position we all envy, had the opportunity to put the 850-horsepower racer through its apparently mind-blowing paces on a circuit, taking the vehicle up to 145 miles per hour.

Earlier this year, Drayson Racing was the first team tapped by Formula E Holdings to race in its all-EV series, slated to debut in Rome next year. In July, Drayson shattered a 39-year-old FIA World Electric Land Speed Record by hitting 204.2 miles per hour at RAF Elvington Airfield in Yorkshire, England. And last month, Lord Drayson took the converted Lola LMP out to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah and proceeded to take it up to a record-breaking 205.1 miles per hour. The team followed that up by doing a standing quarter-mile in just 9.7 seconds. As a mic-ed up Harris put it while driving the Drayson: "It's the future. It's the future. That is truly &*%$#*& extraordinary." You can see what all the excitement is about for yourself by checking out the 13-minute video below.
