Lamborghini Issues Gallardo Tricolore to Celebrate Italian Unification

Lamborghini Issues Gallardo Tricolore to Celebrate Italian Unification: "

Lamborghini has announced a yet another special-edition Gallardo, called the Gallardo Tricolore, in celebration of the 150-year anniversary of the unification of Italy. (History buffs will recall that several discrete states on the Italian peninsula were united into one kingdom back in 1861.) The Gallardo is on the stand at a show in Turin called Stazione Futuro—or Future Station—part of the country’s celebration of the sesquicentennial.

The key change is the addition of a lengthwise racing stripe styled after Italy’s Tricolore flag, which is continued inside on the driver’s seat. It’s not yet clear whether this commemorative car will spawn production models, or even on which version of Gallardo it’s based. We think the flag-on-white scheme looks pretty slick, and wouldn’t be surprised to see a limited run go on sale in Europe as the Gallardo lives out its final years.

Fellow Italian automaker Pagani got in on the national heritage at last year’s Geneva auto show when it debuted the Zonda Tricolore. That car paid homage to the Italian air force and featured dual Tricolore stripes.
